Arrival Day 

1) Lunch @ MBK Mall on 6th Floor

Take BTS train to National Stadium station. Head to the 6th floor to try Khao Kar Moo (pork leg rice) and Hoy Tod (oyster omelette). Food must be paid with coupons bought at coupon desk. Coupons only valid on day of and can be refunded.

Walk 10 minutes from MBK Mall to the Jim Thompson House

3) Victory Monument

Take the BTS to Victory Monument for cheap street-style shopping here!

  • Victory Point – This is the small street market area you’ll see directly at the bottom of the sky train and it covers most sides of the circular Victory Monument roundabout area. An area full of budget market stalls selling fashionable clothing, costume jewelry, accessories, bags and trinkets.
  • Boat noodles at Victory Monument is a must try. There is a boat noodles alley along the canal with many different stalls selling the dish.

Chiang Mai, Thailand (3 Days)

DAY 1

1) Warorot Market (Sun-Sat 5:45 – 7:30pm) between Thapae Road and Chang Moi Road | In the north of Nawarat Bridge and the west side of Ping River

2) Guided Food Tour with Gade

Stockholm, Sweden (4 Days)

DAY 1

1) Östermalmshallen Food Hall (Mon-Fri 930am – 7pm, Sat 930am – 5pm)

2) Hötorgshallen Shopping Complex

Although Östermalmshallen maybe more well-known, I enjoyed Hötorgshallen much more for it’s varied hot food choices and cheaper food options such as two doner kebab places in the basement. Don’t miss Kajsas Fisk. It’s so famous that food tours come here to sample their fish soup.

Copenhagen, Denmark (4 Days)

DAY 1 

1) Free Walking Tour 

Book at http://www.copenhagenfreewalkingtours.dk/index.html. The 10am Grand Tour of Copenhagen meets on the steps of the City Hall on Rådhuspladsen and ends by 1pm at the Marmorkirken (Marble Church).

2) Marmorkirken (Marble Church) (Mon-Thurs & Sat 10am – 5pm, Fri & Sun 12pm – 5pm)

3) Amalienborg Slot (Closed Mon, Tues – Sun 11am – 4pm)

The exhibits are not particularly exciting in Amalienborg but do stop by for the free bathrooms should you need. Changing of the Guards occurs at 12pm.

Nearby Eating Option: Restaurant Amalie (Amaliegade 11, Mon- Sat 11:30am – 4pm).  The most down-to-earth service and excellent smorrebrods. The fried plaice fillet was absolutely divine – buttery and melt-in-your-mouth. Gravadlax was excellent too. Reservations recommended.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (5 Days)

DAY 1

Take a taxi or the X28 bus from Al Jafiliya metro station.

1) Jumeriah Mosque 

Non-Muslims may visit as part of a guided tour. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) organizes tours of the Jumeirah Mosque Saturday to Thursday at 10:00am (20 AED). Reservation is not necessary but you should arrive to the mosque at 9.45am. Pastries, Arabian tea, and coffee are offered before the tour starts.

Take a taxi to Dubai Mall  ($6-8 USD)

2) Dubai Mall (Mon-Sun 10am – 12am)

Eating Options: The Social House (on the fountain side, across from Eric Kaiser bakery) or Milas inside Dubai Mall

3) Burj Khalifa 

Save time by purchasing tickets for At the Top, Burj Khalifa observation deck online at https://tickets.atthetop.ae/atthetop/

4) Dubai Fountains (Afternoon shows except Friday 1/1:30/2:00PM daily; Evening shows 6-11pm daily every 30 mins)

The fountains can be viewed for free from the Waterfront Promenade outside the Dubai Mall and from the bridge across Burj Lake.

Follow signs within Dubai Mall for Metro Link Bridge to reach the Burj Khalifa/The Dubai Mall metro station for transportation to hotel.
